Why Go To Orlando?

     When parents consider the costs of a trip to compete in Festival Disney, of course the first question is why.  For four years, the choirs at Gulfport High School have competed in the District VIII Choral Festival that is sponsored by the Mississippi Music Educators Association and the Mississippi High School Activities Association.  We have consistently done well; making scores of Superior every year.  Two years ago, we attended the Southern Star Music Festival in Atlanta, we we not only scored straight ratings of Superior, but also were awarded the judge's Sweepstakes Award for best performing ensemble at it festival. 

      While local and regional festivals offer wonderful learning opportunities, Festival Disney offers a truly national stage for competition and learning.  Disney clinicians will provide a workshop, as well as adjudication.  Further, the students will be treated to the international experiences of the permanent World Expo that is part of Epcot.  They will make memories for a life time at the Magic Kingdom and get to participate in celebrations at Disney's Sarasota Springs Resort.  To wrap it up, students will also get a day in Disney's newest attraction, Animal Kingdom, where they can witness some of the largest and most impressive live-performance events staged at such a venue.

      In short, we're targeting our efforts at Festival Disney because it allows us to expose our students to one of the premier festival events in the U.S., while also allowing them opportunities to see and hear artistic performances from the world's largest professional entertainment corporation.
